Question Must buys before you leave the UK for Australia

Hi,

Can anyone give me any tips on any buys I should make in the UK before heading to Australia, that are difficult or really expensive to get in Australia.

I was thinking along the lines of medicines or anything you know of really?

Many thanks...

If weight is not an issue, ie as in your main stuff is coming by seafreight measured by volume (not airfreight which is volumetric or actual weight whichever is the greater).........then it would have to be showergels, bodywashes, shampoo, conditioner, bath oils anything along the lines of toiletries really.......

Medicines - I can only go on my own list, but these are things I buy every time I'm back home - Piriton, Beechams Powders, Beechams Flu-Plus (you can get Lemsip here but Beechams works better on me), and the new one Beechams All-Clear.
Boots 3 for 2 offers on toiletries - get everything you can!! Much cheaper to buy that way if you have the space anyway.

Every thing you can fit in......

In particularly the items which are massively inflated in price here:

books
dvds
leather shoes
nice home furnishings (not much choice here)
trainers
car? (if you've owned it for a while I think you can avoid the tax??)

basically, I'd ram in the lot - unless you've got a palsonic TV - these are plentiful down under.

Note it's the blokes who advocate bringing absolutely nothing to Oz.

Yet, they would undoubtedly be the first to whinge if they run out of Y fronts or shaving foam. Moreover, have you tried the gravy? A mixture of cat piss and bark.

Never whinged about undies or shaving foam. They sell them in shops here. Didn't realise it was a novelty.

Gravox is crap. Greens is good. No problems with gravy either.

Better stock up on shampoo and soap, they don't sell it here.

Don't forget that for anything you buy from a shop that participates in the VAT rebate scheme you can get the VAT back at the airport when you fly provided you have the goods with you. Marks and Spencer is an example. I got about AU$200 back (they will pay you in any currency).
