Moving to Sydney
Hi Guys
Well i have just found out me and my wife will be moving to Sydney in May. We havent got the faintest idea of where we should live and dont know anybody there.
We would like somewhere close to a beach but with the ability to get into the city by public transport or half an hours cycle ride. We are looking to rent rather than buy and have a budget of about $500 per week, (though would like to be less if possible). It is important that the area is "nice" and safe - as i will be working away from home for two weeks in three, leaving my wife alone.
We have no children, so schools and things are not an issue. What would be nice is an area which had a arts feel about it, as my wife is an artist. Though doesnt have to be "trendy", in fact our idea of hell is bondi.
Hope some one can help.
Many thanks
Chris

Re: Moving to Sydney
Paddington or Balmain.
All close to the city, nice, safe, within your price range and vaguely arty.
Alternatively, try Newtown for somewhere slightly more bohemian.
