Moving to Sydney

Hi there

I am currently finishing up a job here in Brisbane and will be looking to move down to Sydney in the next few weeks.

I was hoping that you wonderful people would be able to advise me on where to find decent accomodation/suburbs for travel into the city centre.

I don't mind commuting (if they have express trains etc) or living in the city itself. I just want an immediate base until I can discover where exactly in Sydney I would like to live.

Having done this in London already I cannot imagine it being too, hard, just need to prodded in the right direction. There are quieter suburbs in most larger cities and this is ideally what I would be looking for.

In terms of rent, I am happy with the 300-400AUD/week range. quite happy with a 1 or 2 bed apartment etc etc.

I also have avar (4x4) so being able to store this would be handy too.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

For commuting times try www.131500.com.au

I live in Bondi Beach and pay 300 a week for an old 2 bedroom unit with on street parking. It takes about 45 mins to get to the city by frequent buses and trains. Other comparable suburbs are Coogee and Manly (you get the ferry to the city). You might get undercover parking for that extra 100.

I would come down for a couple of weeks in temporary accomodation so you can see and bargain down here. You will save way moer than the extra you pay for the temp accom and will avoid some of the slums around the place.
