Hi guys

Just joined up to this today and found losts of information and advice about moving to Brisbane/Gold Coast.
We moved to NZ about 9 years ago from UK and as much as we love it here, feel we would get more for ourselves and the kids in OZ.
So Guys, I need help and advice on everything from choosing between Brisbane and Gold Coast, good suburbs to live in, good high schools etc and of course good socialable drinking holes for a yarn over a few jars!!!
We are coming over to have a good look around in a few weeks but 7-10 days isnt long to find where we want to live.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, we lived in NZ too and after a few years in between back in England we moved to Melbourne where we have found the ideal combination of lifestyle and financial realities!

If I had to choose between Brisbane and the Gold Coast I would choose Goldie probably as Brisbane is a bit short of beaches. We chose between Brisbane and Melbourne and chose Melbourne because we could live within walking distance of the beach and commuting distance of the city, in a city with great job prospects and a great lifestyle. Three years on we have not been disappointed.

I would suggest that you look at job prospects in each place whilst you are here too.

Yes, varies by state and suburb and you don't have to pay them if you are a tenant. Ours are about $1000 per year.
