Default Moving from Scotland to Perth

Hi,
My partner and I are moving over next year and are looking for help on moving over.
We have a fully furnished place at the moment and I'm thinking the container sea freight option is best but looking at about £4000. Can anyone suggest this if you've done it or is it better to buy all there?

Also, is it easy enough to buy a cheap second hand car there?

Thanks in advance

Tracey

There will be lots of views. Personally i think its cheaper to bring your stuff than buy new. Add up all you have, estimate second hand value. Google Aus websites and assess replacement cost. I bet 4k is better option.

Its easy enough to buy a second hand car here, but cheap? This is Perth, only the sunshine is cheap.

Hi Tracey. Can't help with moving/freight, but this site (and there are heaps of others) shows that there are currently over 500 used cars for sale in Perth in the AU$800 - $5,000 price range. Not that I'd recommend buying an $800 one! You can search this and similar sites to get an idea of what you could get for your budget. You could also just visit used car sales yards, there are tons of them. I'd go so far as to say that there's a glut of used cars for sale in Perth - remember to bargain hard and also ask for a discount for cash.

Thanks for that spouse of scouse. We will visit places when we arrive and find out where we will be based. I just need to figure out the freight part first and find a place to rent, again when we know where we will be based.

Thanks

If you rent through RE Agents, most (all?) will not rent to someone they have not met and who has not seen the prospective accommodation.

You can buy a lot of IKEA furniture for $7500/$8000. Is your stuff quite new and in good condition? Good quality? Don't forget how long it takes to get it here.
