Moving from NZ to OZ ripped off by shipping companies
 

Hi

as anyone moved from NZ to OZ?

We are in process of moving from welly to melbourne and am finding it to be more expensive than moving from the UK to Oz, its insane.

Current quotes are for 6k NZD for 2 peoples stuff, ive only been here 2 years, havnt accumulated that much stuff.

Also need to add on an extra 3k nzd for the insurance.

Alot of people say sell the stuff, but its only a few years old, and quality stuff, kind of attached to it.

anyone done the move got any advice, should we arrange our own insurance, should we pack ourselves, any decent companies?

we moved interstate melbourne to perth it cost us $3800 with insurance that was with kent removal.

We ended up with a heap of damages due to poor packing on there side we packed all the boxes ourselves but they packed the furniture etc all they stuff they packed was damaged. I would definitely get insurance to be honest we did consider moving without it but thank god we got it!!
