Moving to Melbourne ? Buying/renting - This will be useful.
The REIV (Real Estate Institute of Victoria) have made an excellent (if a little dry) video presentation on the latest current property market situation here.
Honestly, if you are moving to Melbourne and you are not absolutely 100% up to speed on what is going on here, you need to sit through this 10 minute spiel to get a very accurate picture of the current situation.

Additionally, an excellent article from the Herald Sun today :
Home prices soar on city fringe

"The cheaper houses on Melbourne's outskirts aren't such a bargain any more. The booming property market has pushed up home prices on the fringes by as much as 40 per cent."
