moving to melbourne
Hello all.
Just got job offer so will probably be flying out mid-end July once 457 is sorted.
Can anyone advise on any nice places to live to the east of Melbourne. Nice schools etc for 5 yr and 16yr old. Looking at a 4 bedroomed property ideally to rent - around $400pw?
What are peoples' thoughts on Cheltenham, Box Hill areas?
Is public transport reliable enough to commute into Melbourne or is a car a must?
Lots of questions !
Thanks in advance.

Public Transport here is very good IMO.
Our own rental may become available August 1st so even that might be good for you.

Hi BuzzyBee,
Thanks for your quick posting - by the beach eh? Sounds nice.
I hear that living slightly away (15km or so) from the coast makes a significant difference to the rental prices - this is why we are looking more Cheltenham/Box Hill areas.
Sorry to be a divvy, but what's IMO?
Cheers,
Gooner (not james or jack!).

Hello James (or is it Jack?) We live in Mordialloc by the beach, about 40 mins drive/train from the CBD. We rent a 3 bed plus study here, this kind of property goes for $450 per week. End July is a great time to come as it will be cooler winter, so you can get all the hassly things done without overheating and then relax and enjoy the summer when you're sorted!
Public Transport here is very good IMO.

I would be surprised if Cheltenham was cheaper than Mordialloc but have never checked.
