I live in Karratha byby... Yes its extremely hot, it varies between 35 and in the 40's most days so the air con is on 24/7. Kiddies activites, yes they are reasonably well catered for, there is a public swimming pool, gym, fishing, after school acitivities. Obviously there are certain times of the day you would prefer to keep your children in (heat wise) but my husband's children grew up in Karratha with no adverse problems:D....If you need any assistance please dont hesitate to pm me... best wishes Susie

There have been two incidences since I have been there (neighbours rows fuelled by grog) unfortunately they were murders, most unusual for a town this size.
It enjoys a good rep.... I have never been apprehensive in the slightest and we have an excellent police force in Karrratha that handle everything well.
Most of our friends have children and they are 100% safe. I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Karratha and my husband being there for 22 years has had a great time as well.

Pluto/Gorgon & FIFO have knocked the heart out of the town, but thats par for the course and there are many plans for a new infrastructure, shopping centres etc to be put in place. The hospital is excellent, and for more serious cases RFDS come in. Reasonable schools. Do you know where you will be living in Karratha? then I might be able to guide you on schooling.

Tongue in cheek I say this, there is even a legalised brothel with FIFO staff to cater for those special needs, but it serves a good purpose for all those FIFO's and leaves the locals in peace:lol:

When are you thinking of coming over?

No worse than Perth, yes they can be annoying in certains times of the year, I agree but it is a small inconvenience to pay for some of the beautiful areas in the vacinity.

best wishes susie
