Default Moving Joondalup from South Wales

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked but I have currently been successful with a job application and my family and I are looking to relocate to Perth, and are currently looking at the Joondalup area, I have two daughters 7 & 5 who are big into gymnastics.

Please could any one offer some advice on the area for our relocation with regards to amenities, gymnastics clubs, cost of rental for four bedroom houses etc.

Any information would be help full or links to other articles

Thank you

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Congratulations!

Joondalup is a good area if your kids are in to sport, the WA Institute of Sport has a campus up there with a specialist gymnastics programme.

Entry is by invitation but it might worth doing a bit of research, the daughter of a friend of mine was picked up at a school outreach day. Otherwise there are plenty of other less formal sports clubs at the arena and leisure centres.

Joondalup also has a huge ex-pat community and you will hear UK accents everywhere. Good access to public transport and you can be in the CBD in about 30 mins.

Hope this helps

Yeah, too many IMO. Especially all the northerners and cockneys.

Hi Kevin
You re obviously starting out on a long road..... good luck.

The best advice I can offer is workout the best school catchment area to suit your kids. There is the Public School system and Private School System.

Public Schools
Good schools are hard to get into unless you are in the School Catchment area (details on every school website) or your child is gifted and talented and can apply to go to the school, while living out of catchment.
Living on the wrong side of the road, could put you into a catchment area of a school that is not your choosing as the best school you want your kids to attend (for whatever reason.)

Private Schools
Fees are paid per term. Often long waiting lists to get in, some schools would not accept or application as their list was too long. (Need to do your research here).
Do not have to live in the catchment area.

Find a Public School
http://www.det.wa.edu.au/schoolsonline/home.do

Find details about a school

Top High Schools WA

ucation.com.au/school/secondary/wa/wa_top_secondary_schools.aspx

Top Primary Schools
http://bettereducation.com.au/school...y_schools.aspx

Baptist Schools
http://www.baptistwa.asn.au/view/dir...ool-directory/

To give you a little head start. There are no Public High Schools in Joondalup. There are a couple of Private Schools -
LJBC www.ljbc.wa.edu.au/ (Baptist)

Mater Dai https://www.mdc.wa.edu.au (Catholic)

My son goes to a Public School close to Joondalup, Woodvale College. Very happy with the school, you WILL need to be in the catchment area due to the fact year 7's are all moving to the High School in the next few years and the school is having to make room. www.woodvale.wa.edu.au

Expect to pay higher rent for housing in the catchment area of a good school.
www.reiwa.com
www.realestate.com.au

Rent will easily be $400 - $600 per week for something liveable in a good area.

Good luck.
Neil.
