Hello, I am replying as lots of people seem to have viewed your post but nobody has replied yet.
I think your post is a little vague really, maybe that why nobody has replied. Most would think that you would have looked into this before arranging your move maybe?
How much money you will need depends on lots of factors so can't really be answered.
Not sure what you mean by serviced accommodation of a budget? Most people opt for a short term holiday rental or holiday park till they sort out a rental house or apartment.
The only other advice I can give is if you do a search on hear for your questions, you will find a lot of information. Good luck on your move.

Bring all your money.
Try Stayz for ok priced accommodation - it's not serviced but there are some good houses on there. Do you have a suburb/area of Melbourne in mind - it's a pretty big place!
Look at the sticky on the main page - called Things to Do or something - has lots of info on it. We used it this weekend, even though we've been here a year and the info was a bit out of date - all still relevant.............

1: Money- Bring, or have available, everything you have got.
2: Temp Accommodation. What is your budget figure ? Which of this type of thing are you looking for
3: aaah.. that's lots But bring a few UK power boards so you can change one plug on each board to begin with, so you can use all your UK plugged appliances, without having to change everything immediately.
