Hi everybody,

My friend Vicky and I are moving to Cairns in December. I will be looking for work for 6 months as I am on a working/holiday visa so I was wondering if anyone had any tips/advice on what sort of work is available? I have experience as a Recruiter and also within the medical and hospitality industries.

Also - we plan to travel to other countries before arriving in Cairns but we would like to ship some boxes over in advance of our arrival - does anyone have advice on where we could send it to in Cairns (a holding office perhaps?) so we could pick it up when we arrive?

Hi Helen.

On a WHV you may be a bit limited as to what you can pick up purely because of the visa status. Family of people on long term temp visas like the 457 also have difficulty obtaining what they want.

Don't want to put a dampener on your plans but just want you to be aware this could be the case.

Of course not all jobs are advertised on them but it will give you a flavour of what is about. The Cairns Post newspaper advertise jobs twice a week so grab that when you get here.
