moving to brisbane?

we arrived in australia in sydney end of last year and are starting to settle now. we've now been given an opportunity to move to brisbane, but have never been before.
what are the thoughts of those living in brisbane? whats it like compared to sydney? any recommendations on where to live / where not to live?
thanks!
:)

Near the coast ;)

What part of Sydney are you in ? We moved from Western Sydney to Bayside Brisbane. It is quieter, more laid back here, and cooler in summer (compared to where we were) ;)

north shore - a bit expensive too, so hoping it's much cheaper up your way!

What type of thing are you wanting when you get here ?

Inner City living ?
1 hour Commute to CBD ?

Where would the Job be ? Would you travel by car or public transport ?

job would be south west of city. not looking to live in city - 2 small children & cats would prefer a garden, but handy for shops, schools etc. not too remote.

not much to ask ;)

Now we just need someone from SW Brisbane to join the conversation. I'm over on SE, and not to sure of places over West ;)

We just moved to the west side of Brisbane - Chapel Hill. Look at Chapel Hill, Indooroopilly, St. Lucia, and the other side of the river Chelmer, Graceville or Sherwood. Family Suburbs not too far out of city, lots of shops and green spaces.

thanks, we are coming up next weekend for a quick look round, so we'll bear these in mind.
any suggestions for 'must see' things while we're there?

Yep Sherwood, Chelmer, Graceville, Corinda, Indooroopilly all nice but will be pretty pricey. If your looking at places for a little less as we were on the SW we looked around Jindalee, Oxley, Forest Lake and Springfield Lake we ended up in Forest Lake which suits us nicely.

Well... you should have a look around the Bayside :D

But then you'll be asking about commuting times ;)

thanks folks, we've been up for our look round now.

Chelmer, Graceville, Sherwood - yes, very nice! will certainly look round about there.

did the touristy bit as well - river cat, southbank, even made it to dreamworld for a few hours to the delight of small children..

still waiting for company to make us an offer in writing, but all going well we could be joining you up there soon!

cheers!
