Default Moving to Australia.

Hi, I am a 44 year old Assistant Practitioner in the UK. With 10 years experience working in an Intensive Care. I am NOT a RN. But I think the equivalent in Aus to my qualification is an EN? What is the best way for me to emigrate to Australia. I am too old for a Work Visa!
Should I keep applying for EN posts....or should I send my CV etc to different Hospitals/ Medical Centres???
Please help. My 15 year old daughter and I are desperate to come to Aus!!

Hi Deb. Can't really help much, hopefully others in your field will be able to, but I do know that the nursing qualification one level below a RN is an EN. If you're not set on being in an acute care setting, aged care in Australia is a huge industry and enrolled nurses and nursing aides are needed.across the country. The 3 bands of aged care are - independent living, which is living in a complex with your own unit, but with care onsite if needed - hostel level, which is defined as 'low level' care, and nursing home level which is for people with higher level needs. The latter also included 'secure wards' for patients with dementia.

As I say, I'm not really up on the nursing field, but good luck and make Mr Google your best friend!

No such thing as just a Work visa, so have you looked at all the options on http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/ ?
You may not be too old, depending on other factors

Are you sure what you do is equal to an EN or is it an AIN (Assistant in Nursing)? Are you med endorsed or are you an assistant who does bathing and feeding, etc?

I would think you should check the skilled occupations lists at www.immi.gov.au to see whether your skill is there. I'm not sure EN is, but I've been wrong before.
