You can get a TFN here - http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/co...tent/38760.htm.
You are not required to get private health insurance, you will be covered by Medicare (for which you need to register - see here http://www.immi.gov.au/living-in-aus...r-medicare.htm). But lots of people decide it is worthwhile, particularly high earners who pay a lower Medicare surcharge if they have private cover.
This - http://www.immi.gov.au/living-in-aus...a/to-do-first/ - is a handy DIAC guide for what to do when you arrive.

There is also a new rule that new comers to Australia on 175 visa dont' have to work for the first 5 years. During this time Govt will support them financially as long as they remain environmentally friendly and CO2 free. Kevin Rudd had to take this action to save the environment and the new legislation will be out very soon.
