My husband has looked into this and you just have to do the thoery test within 3 months of arriving, after that its theory and practical tests, just as it is for car licences. By the way I'm working as a nurse here but i'm on a permanant residents visa so I don't know the ins and outs of the working holiday visa. They are crying out for nurses though so they'll snap you up in no time (and NSW nurses have just got a 10% pay rise with another 5% to come in July!) Good luck.
