That would all depend on how long you use the battery power. I think the battery recharges while you are driving.
We did not need to use the battery lights as we were always somewhere hooked up to power. But while you are driving it means your fridge still runs and your food is ok.

Thanks very much to everyone who has given help and advice on this one.
Something I think we hadnt really thought through was the cold, I we are now considering the idea Cinderella had to get a motorhome as the car, giving the kids space but living in chalets.

Need to do more research into the pro's and cons of the costs.
E.G. How much would we pay per night for a room for two adults and two kids. How much would we pay for our pitch. If someone know the answr please do let us know.

We will be posting a thread on our proposed route, and would appreciate some feedback on how achievable this would be in the time we have allowed. Also have we missed out some interesting places.

Paul

In terms of cost for pitching your campervan check out

http://www.aaguides.co.nz/accom/green.html

You will be pay around $10 to $30 per night for a powered hook up.

Cost of accomodation varies enormously depending on the standard you are looking for.

For a clean basic self catering unit you should be ok if you budget $100 a night.

The web site link above will give more accurate figures.
