Lightbulb mortgages

Hey!
I recently moved to western Sydney and have married my Aussie partner, am now on the temporary spouse visa for two years. Does anyone know if it would be atall possible to get considered for a mortgage considering:
a) I am on a temporary visa until my permanancy is approved (Jan 07)
b) I am working as a long term temp through an agency
c) My husband is not currently working (studying).
Any information greatly appreciated!

Default Re: mortgages

I am on the same temporary spouse visa and my circumstances were:

a) Just got a job and 1 month into my 3 month probation period
b) Aussie partner working as a temp through an agency

We were given a mortgage no problem but we did put down a 20% deposit.

Hope this helps a little.

See this thread:

I don't think it'll be easy in your case, but maybe if you put down a big deposit...

HSBC told us we had no chance, even though we both have permanent jobs.
I think they're just wary because there is a chance the permanent visa gets refused, though of course we know that chance is very, very, very, very small!!
We're not in much of a hurry(and have a very small deposit), so we are going to wait until next year, instead of trying other banks.

good luck
