Default Mortgage Advice - renting out UK property

Hi, does anyone know of any good Mortgage Companies/ Brokers that I can use to rent out my property in the UK. (The company I have been with for years doesnt want to know now that I'm not living there). They have also said that I can expect to pay a much higher interest rate as (1) I am a non-resident and (2) because the property is being let.

Anyone else had the same problem?

Thanks a lot for your replies

Have you tried HSBC offshore

I'm not sure how eesy it is to organise when you are resident somewhere else.

But you can also ask an Australian bank if they would lend against UK security ?

Try www.find.co.uk to see who is advertising BTL mtgs. Ask a really good letting agent as people obviously do rent out whilst abroad. But also the specialist mtg co's like Paragon, UCB and Mortgage Trust may be able to help. There is also Landlord Mortgages (always advertising in the Money sections of UK press) they are brokers. Some of the Isle of Man co's lend on UK proeprty wherever you are in the world, eg Anglo Irish.

Not every mortage company in the UK takes that view. Shop around.

I think there are tax advantages to using an Oz mortgage. I think that any loss (where income is less than interest payments) is deductable against income with an Oz mortgage but is only deductable against future rental profits with a non-Oz mortgage.

Also are you aware that the Inland Revenue will still tax your UK rent?

Regards
Alistair
