Hi!
Another few questions for you expert expats!
I am hoping to apply for a skilled ind pr visa soon for myself and my 2 children. I am a nurse so hope job hunting will be relatively easy, and having read this site avidly, am now looking at Melbourne, and have seen a lot of info re Geelong/Ballarat. Before i send off any applications my exhusband wants specific info about areas i am considering/schools/lifestyle etc for our two children aged 10 and 8; before he will consider allowing me to apply. Obviously i dont want to waste money on applying if he is going to veto the whole dream, so am kind of doing things in reverse!
1. Need info on nurses pay(have read some threads which seem very wide ranging). In uk i am a G grade cns working with bowel cancer pts, and am currently on a degree pathway.
2. School payments - have read it is about AUD3000, is this private or public?
3. What out of school hours childcare options are there, and likely costs?
4 Read on one thread about some rent assistance payments. Is this only payable after 2 years like sick/social or available on entry?
5. Have read lots on above suburbs; is it feasible to live there without a car; good transport? plenty of entertainment for kids?
Do drive but limiting initial outlay!
6. Any nurses living/working in this area with any specific advice, i would be extremely grateful.
