Default more perth issues!

Hi again, wifey has some more questions
1. Is the tax on your wages lower or higher in Perth than uk?
2. What happens to our uk state pension?
3.Are bed sizes the same - we are taking bedframes but buying mattresses in oz, will they fit?

can't answer 1 and 2. Bed sizes different. Don't bother with bed frames unless you are bringing matresses and bedding. the matresses here won't fit.

1. Higher.
2. You can still pay your NI contributions from here & will be elligible for a state pension.
3. Different.

The tax is probably lower due to the social security taxes in the UK,we have no SS taxes here apart from the medicare levy.Average tax is 30% +1.5% medicare (UK 22%? +11%? SS).Google ATO they give you this years tables. State pension is approx $23,000 a year and means tested, contribute to the UK system at approx 8 quid a week for a class 3 stamp and you should get the full UK pension for 44 yrs of contributions, the 8 quid rises each yr.Superannuation is to replace pension here,9% of wages goes into it,taxed at 15%,so work on 7.65% of wages going in to it,you probably need 20% of wages going in to give a good standard of living in retirement.Think of it as working 30 yrs means contributions of 2.7 yrs wages before taxes ,and fees and charges in the super fund,it is not going to supply much of a lifestyle in retirement.Good luck

I would forget about that. You need to be living near the bread line to get it apparently.
