The Australian

Jetstar is set to introduce more flights to/from Perth and the rest of the known world in direct competition to Tiger Airways. At last.....competition driving down prices. (Link above)

Great news. Another small development is that Emirates is going to start/has started to use Boeing 777s on their Dubai-Perth route replacing Airbus A340s. The B777 is a more modern plane and has the latest in-flight entertainment system.

That's good. Emirates used to use 777s on the Perth - Dubai leg, switched to Airbus then, it seems, have decided to switch back to 777s.

The 777s were pretty old compared to the shiny new ones they had on the Dubai to London leg when I last flew with them.

Another good article in Saturday's The Australian's business section (linked below). Things are really looking good if you want to travel.

Don't forget that the impacts are massive for flights back to the UK also.......Buy a $200 return to Singapore from Perth and pick up a $1000 return from Singapore to London on Singapore Airlines (ditto Bangkok and Thai Airways).

All it takes is a little more leg work and the willingness to contact a Singapore travel agent.

Good point. I had a look at SIA's website recently and there are some good deals out of Singapore in Singapore dollars.
