Default More Free Money

Just looked at the Family Assistance web site to see when I'm going to get my free $600 (pre election bribe) and it turns out that is per child!!!

So next week I get $1800 for doing nothing and I'm not even eligible to vote yet!

Crazy isn't it?

, and dont forget the next $600 after the election Not certain yet how that one gets paid.

I assume you have 3 children.

Eligible families will receive $600 per child before 30 June 2004
and
be entitled to a further $600 per child after the reconciliation of their 2003-04 entitlement.
As a consequence most families will be eligible for an additional $1,200 per child in the next 12 months

Definitely pays more than the US too. Call it what you will, but at least Australia understands that raising children isn't just a $30 a week tax break.

They are encouraging it. Australia. like a lot of developed nations, is becoming a land of greybeards.

"Ageing population" for the politically correct.

Thats not going to go very far when the cost of raising a child untill they are 18 is $200,000.

They are

The Treasurer himself said:
"If you can have children it's a good thing to do - you should have one for the father, one for the mother and one for the country, if you want to fix the ageing demographic," Mr Costello said last night.

According to centrelink Ill get;

payment for 5 kids $18,834
Parenting allowance $9126
Rental assistance $3294
large family benefit $ 465

Thats $31,719 per year without a job.

Im applying for jobs but the Govt money will sure help in the meantime.

The Parenting allowance you mention, what allowance is that actually called ?

It "may" not apply to New Migrants,.

The residency rule for "Parenting Payment" is 104 weeks as a resident.
