Default Monies for a holiday back to Blighty

Hi all
We are going back to Blighty in September and wondered what the general census was for paying your way whilst being there?
We currently bank with the Commonwealth.
We pay everything by credit card over here and make sure we have the funds in or bank accounts to pay the bill each time. I'm not sure how much the bank charges fee wise to use a credit card (Master card) in the Uk but think it is something like 5 percent of the transaction. Is there a better way to get our Dollars back to the Uk without paying through the nose?
Kind regards Chris

Did you leave a UK bank account open when you left? Too late if you didn't but hanging onto a UK card and account is the best way to go, just transfer one amount to the UK account with someone like www.tranzfers.com and use that

Many thanks Pollyana
Luckily we still have an open UK bank account and card so no problems there and www.tranzfers.com looks the way to go.
Regards Chris

Hi Chris
Have a lovely holiday, we keep saying we must go back but cannot justify the costs of the flights, especially when there are so many places here we want to visit. I think if family couldn't visit us here for any reason then we would have to go back.
In regards to using your credit cards over there check with your bank how much they charge for overseas transactions, or you could transfer a lump sum in to your UK account.
