Default money - transfering it from the UK

Hi there - has anyone got any advice on the ins and outs of transfering a lerge sum of money from the UK to Aus. Are there any companies worth using/worth avoiding?

Any top tips really appreciated!

Thanks, Juanita

Hi we have just transferred some money, we did it through American Express it cost us £15, no matter how much you send that is a fixed price they dont accept cheques and the most amount you can transfer by cash is £5,000 but you can transfer any amount by your credit/ debit card, it took 2 days to wire across and it is safely in our account in Australia. for the same amount the bank wanted to charge us £300 to wire across, told them where to stick it they said they charge that much incase you are imbessiling money!!!! no just for their fat profit!!! all you do with the american express is to fill a form in and take it in, they are all over the place £15 was a bargin.
