The Nationwide stuff is top banana. The exchange rate on the credit card is almost inter-bank rate and much better than what you will get changing small amounts of money. Withdrawing cash with the cash card is better than Thomas Cook etc will offer you too .

Nationwide... ARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!
yes, they have what is arguably the cheapest product for foreign transactions (Credit and debit cards) but their service is shocking, cant do bugger all online, or over the phone for that matter.... soooo frustrating!!
ive got a gold CC and am slowing stopping all the payments from it, so that i can send it back with a stinking letter about the shocking inconvenience of trying to pay their bills.
And.. if you do try to do anything online or over the phone, youll need to remember at least forty passwords, key words, account numbers, favourite place, pet, date, colour and food preservative, only to be asked a whole other raft of questions about your mothers maiden name and other geneology trivia.. just so you can actually speak to a human being, only to be told that you cant do whatever you wanted to do online/on phone, and that you will have to write a letter (yes.. real pen and paper, snail mail and stamp licking), or go into a branch... which is obviously no problem at all - simply a case of booking flights, accomodation, transfers etc. and the small matter of a 28 hour journey.. mind you that would still be quicker than trying to log in on the internet.
my advice.. dont touch em until theyve updates their entire computer systems to something nearer circa 1945 technology.
and barclays.. well, i told them that i was coming out here, and that id be transfering money.. no worries they said (really.."no worries") unless you consider the fact that i can only transfer £1000 per day out of my account.. now that is hardly "no worries" is it??
banking.. what an arse.
