Default Moderator censorship

Do the moderators have to read every post before it is displayed?

Why, were you thinking of sneaking in a naughty one?

No we don't.

Why are you planning something cheeky in the hope that one of us might miss it?

We do read them all though and they can be deleted.

My last post got a response that it would not be displayed until a moderator had read it. Hence the question.

Then there was something in it like an email address or a weblink or something that needed verifying first. It's to stop new posters spamming the forum etc.

It depends on the content of the post. Some of them get sent to the moderator's queue to be approved before they can be posted in the general forum. This usually happens if you post a link or if you are posting in certain forums - job offers I think is one.

And I would hardly call it censorship. It's a filter to help cut down on the amount of spam that would otherwise clog the forum.

I got a message back that it would not be displayed until read by a moderator - so I wondered why. My starting this post came straight online.

I've gone in and approved the post. It was sitting in the moderator's queue because you quoted a post which had a link in it. So, your post would have a link. It's also a matter of a moderator having time to get online and check the queue before things get posted.
