mobile phones / teaching
Yippee!! We got our visas last Monday and are hoping to be moving to Queensland in January. Is anyone else hoping to be teaching in a primary school in Queensland or are already there teaching? If so, did you get a job pretty easily, what is it like, etc?
Also, can anyone tell us if we should take our mobile phone and buy a sim card out there or is it cheaper to buy a new phone out there? :lecture:

If u want to get a pay as u go sim card then take the phone, if you want a contract then might as well get a phone with it because companies offer 'free' phones when u sign on for a contract

Re: Teaching.
Queensland has a country service requirement. This basically means that teachers are required to do a few years in remote/rural areas before being transferred into the Cities and Coastal Locations. Rural is not like Devon in the UK, its often days from anywhere.
I have checked with a teaching contact before posting this as I thought Country service may not apply anymore but it does.
This website was recommended www.education.qld.gov.au
it does cover the Country Service issue and many other topics.
Of course Private schools do not require Country Service but you can imagine how popular those jobs are therefor.
Hope this helps.
