Mobile phone

A bit long winded this so i'll try and be brief. I have a company mobile phone due for upgrade. It is on a shared contract with one other phone (both nokia 6310s). We are upgrading to siemens D500 (wow) and the boss has said i may take this with me to Oz. The company will use my old 6310 on the same contract when i leave.
Does anyone know how easy it will be to get the D500 unlocked? Is it better to unlock it in the Uk or when i get there? Once unlocked is it just a matter of slipping a new ozzie sim in??
I have done various searches and their is a lot about this issue but the D500 is a new model and i wondered this being the case would i have any major probs?
Regards Chris and Andrea

hi
I had my phone unlocked in the uk for £10. It cost hubby $60 to have his unlocked in melbourne.
we then bought a vodaphone sim card starter kit from papershop. $30 for sim card which included $30 of talk time plus some free text.
once the phone is unlocked any sim can go in it.

You can order your oz sim and have your oz mobile number now using http://www.everythingaustralian.co.uk, they ship direct to the U.K.
