mobile on contract

Has anyone got a mobile on contract when you first arrive in Aus or do you have to get a payg and then apply for a contract one once you have been living there for a while?

PAYG on arrival then contract after you have address etc... That's what we did anyway.

You may find that some of the PAYG deals are as good/better than a lot of the contract deals. The current Woolworths mobile deal ($29 per 45 days) is pretty good for value.

Take your time finding a contract - they are now mostly 24 month contracts and can be expensive to get out of if they don't suit you.
