Think you take this far too serious and I don't like being called a liar and having my lifestyle and intelligence questioned simply because someone who was astroboy-bradley-and/or australian2008 had the same birthday as me. I'm totally fed up with the constant moaning, whinging and bleating of some of the people on this site who have made the move and are now living in Australia.
I reckon that the majority of Oz migrants on BE are quite happy in their adopted country.
Then we have the others who constantly come on this forum to bore the rest of us all to sleep about why they are not happy with Australia!
I have news for you sad people!
In Australia:
We are foreigners! (Just as much as immigrants from any country other than the UK are foreigners.)
It's not the UK, only a bit warmer!
There is no such thing as Marks & Spencer, Sainsburys, etc.!
Supermarkets stock things that are popular in Australia. End of story!
It's not sunny every day of the year! We need lots of rain or we'd all die!
Aussie Rules Football borders on a being national religion. Association Football doesn't!
Born and bred Australians are generally very nice people. They just don't like hard of thinking individuals who constantly moan about everything Australian not being what they expected!

Honestly, some of the petty crap I've read on this forum, posted by the, "moaning, whinging brigade" leaves me cold!
It's a privilege to be in the situation where you have enough points to emigrate to Australia in the first place. There are a lot of good people in the UK who would give their right arm to be able to get permanent residency in Australia, but can't!
To people who have been fortunate enough to get PR in Australia and then want to constantly moan about it, I'd say, "Bugger off back to the UK!"
You're a total social embarrassment to the rest of us!!

The line I put in was in the style of scossie's original post - but was referring to previous posts where people have been complaining about the aussie school system and how their children are going to fall behind their UK counterparts (and some people have even said that they will send their kids to UK bording school to avoid this).
Personally, I have found that there is no difference between the intelligence or otherwise of Brits and Aussies.

Well done scossie. There seems to have been a lot of people on here recently jumping on people (as being rose tinted) just because they post something positive, or worse, they dare to challenge some misrepresentation.
It appears to be okay to post something rude and misleading like: "The Australians specialise in giving the wrong information. Its not just centerlink but almost every official body we have had any dealings with. But you do eventually chill out... ", but as soon as someone challenges it (either because it is rude or because it is misleading), they are labeled "rose tinted".
Another one to add to your list would be:
The school system is different, but the kids that come out of the end are just as intelligent/dumb as the ones that come out of the UK system.

If you look at the message above, in the Another one to add to your list bit at the end kirsty&al gives a statement made about the school system.
I was not trying to be offensive, just trying to ask why it was felt that was ' rude and misleading'. I just thought it was a light hearted and quite amusing comment....but I am now going to crawl back under my rock before i get chewed up completely
