Default Mmmmmm Indian food!

Ok, just wondering, does anybody know if any of the supermarkets do a decent Indian 'ready meal'? I remember when we couldn't be bothered cooking back in NI we'd pop to Marksies/Tescos/Sainsburys (the best was Iceland's though, mmmm) and buy a korma, rogan josh or such like from the fresh or frozen section and they'd be scrummy! We'd do our own rice and buy some Naans and it was great! Does such a thing exist over here?

No chance, nothing like that really here. Saw some in woolies the other week but they were tiny and didn't look that nice and were about $9 each!

I iz not lazy, I just made a mean tofu veggie curry, was scrummytastic! (Can you tell the OH is on exercise AGAIN, and I'm home alone?! I've made enough veggie curry for the next night or three lol) However it's always handy to have something like that in the freezer for when a few wee shandies have been consumed and you cant be bothered ordering in! lol

Will check out those $9 jobbies, no harm in trying!

Been here three months this week and STILLLL not had a chinese, I'd love a nice curry chip right now, MMMMMM lol

When I worked there 15 years ago there used to be a really good Indian restaurant in Towoomba, which was very unusual for an Australian city at the time, never mind a country town. I'm struggling to remember the name, have you been there seen it? (was run by English/Australian couple who had lived in India).

You seem dead upset at being back here Polly, I presume you would ideally like to be back in the UK long-term?

Sorry, its a long time ago; will have a quick google. I remember it was in a Queenslander rather than a purpose built house (EDIT I mean restaurant!!).

I used to love going up to Towoomba for a few days, had some fun times there...

The closest to a good ready-made curry (UK style) we've had is making our own with sauces from the brand "Passage to India" which you can get from Coles and some small shops. Our favourite flavour is the Balti Curry. Put the sauce to a simmer, add vegetables or meat, and it'll be ready when your rice is cooked. Woolworth used to stock them too but have now replace the shelf space with their own brand of curry sauces.
