Mining work in Western Australia

Hi All

I have been hearing a lot about the booming mining industry in Western Australia. I was wondering what kind of jobs are available, and what the pay rates were like?

I am 27, have a degree in economics, and am currently working in management. I have come to the conclusion that office work is not for me, and would like a change. I am single, have no financial commitments, and I'm definitely not afraid of hard work, hot conditions, long hours etc

Ideally i would like to do something for a year or two to save a bit of cash as i have heard the pay is good at the moment, however if things worked well there would be no reason why i wouldn't stay long term.

What are the chances of getting a visa for mining based employment? I am still eligible for the working holiday visa - could that be a viable option? I am aware that my skills are not exactly transferable to the industry i am looking at ;) but if there was nothing suitable, i would be willing to get an HGV licence or something similar if that would help my chances? Is there any work going for guys like myself?

All information is gratefully received

Thanks all

Culvers.
