Mining
Anyone know how you get into mining? Looking for non specific jobs in mining areas as heard that wages are pretty good. If any one knows how to find opportunities would like to find out. Thanks

Re: Mining
The analysis was that skilled directly-relevant jobs in mining are probably more secure as these people are hard to find to start with. However, anyone who doesn't fall into one of those categories probably has little chance of getting a job there at this time [and if they do have one, they are not very secure].
Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news.

Re: Mining
it depends entirely on the mine. Some metals like Zinc are falling in price so the mines are slashing staff. Coal however is still booming and at least half a dozen new mines are opening up on the east coast in the next year.
If you've got a skill such as sparky/engineer/plumber you're 100x more likely to get a job as demand for these is still very high. Going for unskilled jobs you'll have to try harder and will have lower wages and less security.
Don't forget that the majority of mines are in the middle of nowhere and miners aren't renowned as being the most civilised of people...
