we will be setting of for a life in Perth with our 17 months daughter 3rd April....we have some temporary accommodation arranged through my husbands job. Please can anyone tell me what are nice family areas with amenties close. Heard Joondalop/Illuka and Mindarie are nice ....how much is roughly rent for 4 bed with POOL !!! Are these area very British ? heard good and bad ? Do Australian live in them or are they truly dominated by the Brits ? IS that a good thing or bad ?????
Any websites to elp with giving us an idea of homes/areas would be appreciated

Nice area's you have picked but yes lots of Brits.Which depends what you call good n bad yep have things in common people stop n talk to you once they here your accent.
But again you are moving for a reason and maybe look into mixing abit more with diffrent people.
Most Brits want to have the same bloody shops they had in the UK at the pub every weekend not happy unless had a weekend fight.Get Foxtel so they can stay in and watch Corrie n Eastenders.Why would you pack up and bother moving???????????????

Agree with shade8. Very British suburbs. They call Iluka "Ilukapool" because there are a lot of scousers there for some reason. Both Mindarie and Iluka are very impressive suburbs, some lovely big houses. It's exactly the same (without the huge houses) where we live. Full of English. We've been here 2.5 years and our kids haven't got an accent yet because they go to school with English kids!

If you can afford to, head closer to the city. There's not so many Brits down that way and there are some lovely old established suburbs with character. Unlike these shiny, sprawling, soulless estates up here.

Look at Sorrento maybe and North beach,Mullaloo.Kalleroo
Depends if you have your heart set on living near the beach as plenty of other nice places and nothing that far from the beach.

hi beach not an issue don't mind driving to it ? what other areas are nice - mixed. Dont really want to go home from home ! 4 bed with pool any ideas on rent prices ? Is it 500-600 AUD ???

hi definately don't want that and had a feelingit was a little britain ! please csn you shed some light on the other areas you say to look at ? We do not mind being a drive away from beach. Obviously nothing outback though ! How long have you been there ?

We live in Kingsley and you can probably get a 4x2 with a pool for $350-$400 per week (unfurnished). If you are looking at Iluka, Ocean Reef, Mullalloo etc probably $550-$??? Depends what you want and where you want to be. We have been here 2 years and it is an established suburb and I am glad we chose here instead of a "new" suburb. We are only 5-10 mins from the beach and 15mins from the city with shops, pubs and schools within easy reach. Know lots of people who have moved to Carramar/Iluka/Butler and other new suburbs and hate it as there is no life there, no trees, shops, supermarkets etc. Depends what sort of house you want really...

Great if you can find a DECENT rental at these prices. When we arrived we were looking NOR, not fussed about being in coastal suburbs, would've been very happy with Duncraig, Padbury, Kingsley, Connolly etc but there is very little available at the moment. We looked at some awful places in the price range of $300 & decided we needed to increase what we were going to pay for rent. We put 4 applications in before we were accepted on a place. One place we loved in Mullaloo had 13 other applications!! We're now in Ocean Reef paying $430pw for a 4 bed, 2 bath NO POOL.
We're moving to Mindarie in a fortnight (breaking the lease here in Ocean Reef if anyone's interested?!) & thats even more, again without pool.

I live in Mindarie, and yes there are a lot of English around but I didnt move to this suburb to be near the English.

Regarding 4 x 2 with a pool, a friend has just rented hers out unfurnished for $500 a week. Have you looked at the realestate site? www.realestate.com.au

We moved to Iluka over the weekend, bought a place at last.

We like it, although It was disconcerting to see 3 kids riding their scrambler motorcycles in the park. But that's Perth all over for you.

Settled in then. I like the older part of Iluka which I think you bought in. The newer bit further north a bit I can't stand its just big house legoland.
