Seems like a lot of money but............

We have done ours DIY as we have a straight forward application so not sure of all the costs yet.

It could depend on how many people are in your family too as we are a family of five. Kids 11 and over have to have the X-rays done (but thats only about an extra £50 per child) and the police checks are £10 I think. I am sure someone else will say how much they paid etc.

We have passed the TRA and got our main 136 application in but still need to do the meds and police checks. So far it has cost us £1140.00 and out TRA was a priority processed one (extra £80).

So, guessing at the medicals should be no more than £600 and the police checks £20 then its less than £2000.

Hope this helps as a guide and I would not worry about having to choose an agent local to where you are either. George Lombard and Go Matilda get good reviews on here so it may be worth seeing how much they charge etc.

Anyways, good luck with the application.

I don't know how different the visa is from 136 but would imagine that these forms are all have their similarities.
We just read and re read until we broke it all down into step by step things for us to do. We passed the TRA which gave us the confidence to continue alone . Try just to do one thing at a time and tick off your list
Good luck

Have you decided when you are going to get your Meds done yet or are you going to wait until they request them?

We are still undecided, may just give it another month!

Hi Russ,
We are still waiting although we will prob do them in a month or so cos we went to this expo thing on Thurs and Russ asked an official about whether better to wait or just send them ... It depends on how much of a hurry you are, the Visa only takes hours to process if all the stuff is there so we are kind of thinking well maybe worth doing now and sending .... That was before I had a funny turn in London (had an anxiety attack) thought my number was up!!!! Russ called an ambulance, just hope it doesn't happen again ... thing is I don't know how to switch off ... Gotta learn eh!!!

I remember reading about that the other day. Hope you are all OK now. I will let you know of any further developments on our part.

It does take over your life a bit and thats why we had a bit of a break between the TRA and the main application. Two months wasted but gave us a chance to concentrate on other things for a while i.e. our children, new company etc etc...

We used a migration agency in Edinburgh  & we were from Glasgow too :D (maybe that should be an !!! )
Cost sounds about right to be honest (we paid more for 136 SI)& you can pay in terms too? which makes it a bit easier to digest!

I hope you have done your homework regarding your choice of migration companys? (if it who im thinkin it with)

Skills Assessment (TRA) would be about 250 and DIMIA about 800 - that's just over 1000 in Government Fees so 1555 seems rather excessive. It's always worth getting a couple of quotes and checking out what level of service you will be getting for the fee.

I wouldn't count on that - often they do a background or integrity check and that can take some time.

You should aim to have your application complete in terms of documentation, however it's usually best to wait until asked to do medicals and police checks.

We also used an Edinburgh based company who we are now reporting to the MARA so do your homework :scared: A search on this Forum might be useful.

Good luck

Re: Migration Companys

Ian Harrop is MARA registered (with a good reputation), based in the UK, and seems to have fees that are lower than some of the numbers quoted on this thread:

Alternatively - why not try an Australia based agent?

Re: Migration Companys

I would say thats expensive.

Visa application fee is approx £800
TRA have no idea guess £350
Medicals (how many of you) we paid approx £400 for 5 of us
police checks £10 each

That is about £1560 that means you are paying them nearly £2500 for their time way way expensive. I paid less than half that for an agent.

Jo
