Default Migrating and Teaching in Western Australia

My husband and I are planning to move to Australia next July for a few years maybe longer depending on how we like it. Ideally we would like to move to WA as he is an electrician and wishes to get work in the mines. I am a teacher and i know that I need to get registered with the WA teacher register. Do I need a migration visa to be registered or will a working holiday visa do? If anyone has any advice on how to get tecahing jobs then that would be helpful. I am presently working in a private school in England and was told it maybe easier to get work in a private school. What are the chances of me getting a job before I get out there? When is the best time of year when jobs are advertised? If anyone has any advice on this then I would appreciate it, thanks.

It all depends on what you teach and where you are prepared to go to teach it. You might pick up some casual relief on a working holiday visa but the process of getting approved could take up most of your holiday so you might want to diversify especially as a WHV restricts the time you can work for an employer.

Australia doesnt have a shortage of teachers - it has a shortage in places that people dont really want to live in. You would probably have a better chance of finding something in a non gov schools but unless your skill set is in high demand you are unlikely to get something before you arrive, the competition can be fierce in the nice places

Are you looking at living in a nice place and your hubby doing FIFO or living in one of the remote hot places that the mines are usually in?
