Sorry, sent it off by mistake.
I'm interested mainly in the settling part of the book. Is it as interesting as it sounds? Do you know where I can get it online?

Can anyone recommand a good guide to help with the practical side of the settlement?

Thanx

Is this is the book by W.C Hampton?

If so I bought a copy at the last emigration fair in Sandown. It is quite useful as a reference guide, but you will find most of the topics are answered on here.

It has chapters on :
Research before you go down under;
Aus bureau of statistics;Aus newspapers;
what to take overseas;
International shippers and removers;
Customs;
Importing and keeping pets;
Importing vehicles;
Money transfers;
Tradesmen recognition;
identity documents;
medicare;
private health ins;
emergency services;
children and benefits;
education;
places to stay;
buying property;
and more.

Another good one is living and working in Aus and New Zealand and Carrianne recommended one a few weeks back.

Hi tinaj,
thanks for the info on the book. I will see if WH Smiths have it tomorrow morning.

I had "living and working in Australia" years ago and it planted the seed in my mind that I could live somewhere "better"

Bye

Thanks Tinaj,
I'll have a look on Ebay to see if I can get it over here. They have absolutely nothing on the subject in the bookshops here. Seems that Canadians are definitely not interested by migrating to Australia
Cheers

For anyone interested, I just found this site
http://www.consylpublishing.co.uk/booksform.htm
They have many interesting books about living, working and traveling in Australia and NZ. Worth a look.
Cheers
