Might as well have moved to Nigeria

People moan about how nobody can cope with the conditions when it snows in the UK.

Well guess what folks, it's hot in Perth today and if you are caught with your aircon on it's a thousand dollar fine.

This reminds me of doing my homework by candlelight during the three day week.

Next you'll have to slip $20 notes in your passport to get through immigration.

Renth thats bloody awful. I was just saying lots of people here are cracking up about the schools not being airconditioned, imagine if that ever happened, massive powerload.

As for elec, dont start me on that, our house is the end of a power line, we have constant battles with SEQEQ about power problems. Can get three power outs or surges a week but they only last seconds, cant tell you what its cost us in blown appliances. Scared witless the AC will go, dont think I would survive:scared:

Our kids don't have it but the private school up the road which receives 3 times the amount per pupil in Federal Government subsidies does.

Our schools have been told they can have it as long as the parents raise the money and pay the running costs!!

It really is.

People coming here from the UK because of the state of the education system are in for a nasty surprise.

New schools great. Kids love it. they work just as hard, but in a fun way. they are both going to camp! Oh and they have air con, which i might add is currently on:p

I personally think that all these cutbacks in the ed system are the same tactic as the push that went on to get people into private healthcare. Keep hacking away at the state schools, make it so publicised that the Private schools are getting all the funding then of course more and more people will go Private. No class system in OZ eh:rolleyes:

As for kids in this heat, its primative. We have our mates 7 year old back for 2 weeks, he is begging us not to send him to school, it upsets me every morning but what can I do??, yesterday it was so much cooler and off he went quite happy. Hes aussie, born & bred but he hates the bloody heat so too the rest of his class according to the aussie teacher.
