I have a short list of three of the "best" governement schools on the Gold Coast and they are: Robina Primary, Varisty Lakes and Clover Hill. Recently Merrimac Primary has been raised in conversation, but it never came up in my "research"

Does anyone have any experience with this primary school and how does it compare to the three listed above?

For me, knowledge is power....and I am trying to glean as much as I can on the subject of schooling so that when we land, we can make some rapid decision in this area, and get our daughter in school soonest....

Any opinoins would be welcomed.

Our son went to Merrimac State School for 2 years until Dec 07 when he left year 7 for Merrimac High. It is a very welcoming, friendly school and we found that he excelled there. It is quite a large school which in Qld is not bad as the more pupils attending mean more funds allocated. I know of 2 other Pommie families who have younger kids there at the moment and they are both happy. The school has a 'sister' school in Japan and they have visits there every other year - our son went on the exchange trip in year 7 staying with a Japanese family and attending the school for 10 days.
I cannot compare Merrimac with the other schools mentioned as I have no experience of them but I recomend you visit all the schools yourself, talk to the head and make your our decision based on what you see / hear.
