Have to say though I wouldn't mind living in Dandenong because it feels like an actual town - not just some boring suburb.
And there's a train station so easy access into the city.

The best suburbs i think are around the inner south east of Melbourne. Quite professional, fun and safe areas. Although no where is always 100% safe of course, but these areas are pretty good. I live in South Yarra and love it - close to everything and a fantastic lifestyle

I now live in Sth Yarra too-loving everything about it
It's got the best shopping street anywhere in Melbourne with a smart end and a grungy end (Prahran) depending on where your mood takes you, cinema and great eats, lots of lovely little cottages some done & others in their raw state.

You also have to watch out for the hoons in utes visiting from the outer suburbs who speed around the streets on weekend nights. The whole atmosphere of the area changes alot fri/sat nights when all sorts of dodgy folk come for their big night out in town

Hi,
Interesting discussion and info sharing.
Can someone kind enough to direct me to a street map/directory to have a better visual of the places mentioned here.
I plan to locate near Narre Warren soon as DIAC grant me the VISA.

Its ok
No real centre to speak of, theres "Stud park" shopping centre or they have just built shops up the back on Wellington road.
The primary school is huge- around 800 pupils, but my cousins kids go there and she is happy with it.
No train station, nearest one is Dandenong (would be worried about my kids getting a train to there in the evening!) Has good bus service though.
There are 2 golf courses nearby and "Churchill park" which is a national park with heaps of roo's.
If you need to travel across Stud road in peak traffic it can be a headache.
Nice established suburb, trees etc (though there are new builds on the outer edge) and block sizes are reasonable to.

Nothing to be afraid of in either of these areas. Like all parts of melbourne you need to wait till you get here to see street by street.
Both of these suburbs are well located for main arterial routes in and out of the city. And please remember Melbourne can be transversed far easier than in the UK.
We only complain about the traffic jams now we are all aclimatised

Heres a survey, out this week, that gives a report on how Melburnians feel about where they live.
