Default Melbourne suburbs?

Thinking of locating in Melbourne, where is good for young family, husband is Carpenter and i'm a teacher with 2 young children 1 will be school age. Any advice on suburbs, schools etc greatly appreciated. We were originally thinking of Phillip Island as have friends their but thought it may be too isolated in Winter and too far to travel for jobs, is this the case?

Everybody is different, it really depends on what kind of area you are looking for. If your a teacher then maybe the following link will assist www.education.vic.edu.au We have looked at the Mornington penusula but are also looking at more semi rural areas. We did a search on this webpage, narrowed it down, then used Google Earth. Good Luck with what ever suburb you decide. Darren & Joanne

Hi, I would suggest you check out Frankston South, Mt. Eliza, Mornington and Mt. Martha. All good places for people with young families with a range of housing and a bit of space and trees yet the city isn't too far away.

Here's a site specifically for the folks heading to Melbourne http://s7.invisionfree.com/BritVics/index.php?

Good luck

Alternatively, you could look at the lovely villages in the Dandenong Ranges. A very pretty area, great for families, again not too far from the city (45 mins from the beaches).

Do a search for, The Basin, Sassafras, Olinda, Upwey, Tecoma and surrounds (www.realestate.com.au). Plenty of primary schools around (and a couple of Steiner schools).

Good luck - let me know if you need any further information.
