Melbourne in Sept 08...

My story so far...

I have plans to move to move to Melbourne with my girlfriend this coming September (08). I hopefully will have a job before going out there with the company im currently working for, Mott Macdonald or Conell Wagner as they are know in OZ.

I was wondering what the avarage wage of a Engineering Technician with 3-4yrs experience would be, and how expensive would accomodation be for me and my girfriend? say a 2 bed studio, flat etc...

Thanks dudes

John:)

Best bet is too look at a few of the recruitment websites e.g www.careerone.com.au/

As far as rent go you are best to look at the following webpage:

John, good luck with your impending move. I'm not in the same industry but I am in Melbourne, so feel free to ask if you need help, or use the forum search function for tons of great info.

Although the head office is based in Albert road (central) you are most likely to be based on various clients sites. Therefore your package may include some form of transport - ute or van.

This also should give you a wide variety in suburbs to choose from - it will come down to what accomodation you are after longer term. You can get a 2 bed house from $180 per week. Use www.realestate.com.au to search for house and rental prices.

For salary expectations this should come out of your discussions with the prospective company - but you could also search via www.seek.com for your sort of work. In finding relevant agents in your field give them a call after sending through your CV and discuss your likely market rate.
