For $250 - 300 you could rent a house (3-4 bed) in Glen Waverley - which is a very nice area about 19 kms from cbd.

You could get a one bed apartment with secure undercover parking, tennis courts, swimming pool, gym etc in or within 10 minutes walk of the CBD area – Central Equity website covers many of the city centre apartments.

For a spaciouse two bed as above + laundry and storage room, you are probably looking at 350 a week.

Don’t forget that in the City there is a glut of apartments, so there are some bargains to be had. Loads of new buildings going up.

I dont know what ur immediate requirements are but incase u r ready to move 7 kms south-east i.e. Dandenong u get what u r looking for in around $150-$170/week. People say that th area has the highest crime rate but i haven't really read nasty things. Though the insurance premium that u will pay a home insurance company will be towards the higher side. You can decide to live near the Princes Highway. NO WORRIES AT ALL!
