Oh God, I really didn't want to hear this. Thanks for the warning!

I found Melb'n to be worse for flies than anywhere on the whole of the East coast when I was there!

I don't know if this is always the case, but they drove me to despair..... I'll be in Melb'n next week, so I'm hoping that they don't torture me too much!

I noted we had flies yesterday, Monday, the first flies I have ever seen in VIC.
We live semi-rural.

The worst were outback, in NSW.

The most annoyng were WA.

They really are a pain...wouldn't mind so much if they weren't so intent on heading into my nostrils or mouth....and so persistent too...we were down at the coast at the weekend and my back was covered with the things...splashings of insect repellent did help...Aussies have told me that they are associated with Northerly winds and sheep farming (!!?! feel much better now I know the flies trying to get in my face have just been up some sheeps bum!!)

Go to Perth if you want to see flies :scared: That's why Croc Dundee wears the hat with the corks on, to swat flies.

Melbourne seems to get some flies during this time of the year (second year here) but not this many last year - I wonder if it has anything to do with this wet, humid weather we've been having. And they're such lazy bastards too, can't even fly off when you swat at them (YUCK!) Lucky most houses here have flyscreens in front of doors and windows to keep the mozzies out so the house is fine if you do not leave a door open.
