Default Melbourne federation houses

We're staying in St Kilda at the moment along with friends from the UK. He has been here very briefly before, then staying with friends in Kew East. He liked the house architecture round there (which I take to be federation era from his description?) and would like to drive around some similar suburbs not too far from here tomorrow. Any suggestions as to where and maybe even a route?

If you're looking for Federation architecture, I would suggest driving around Elwood, Elsternwick, Glen Iris, Brighton, Hampton. Have a look at Google maps and maybe work out a rough route based on those areas. None of them are too far from St Kilda. Otherwise maybe take a look at www.domain.com.au or Real Estate, Property & Homes For Sale - realestate.com.au to view properties for sale - might give you some idea of streets.
