Melbourne Dominates Population Growth
For anyone interested the Australian Bureau of Statistics have recently released some statistics for population growth in Australian cities etc.
"The five areas with the largest growth in the country were all on the outskirts of Melbourne, with the largest increase in South Morang (up 32,200 people). Point Cook, Caroline Springs and Tarneit in Melbourne's west followed, each with growth of more than 20,000 people."

Re: Melbourne Dominates Population Growth
Perth had 26% growth, Brisbane 25%, Melbourne ??? Your statistic was only for individual suburbs of Melbourne, not Melb'n as a whole.

Whoever wrote it, it's still misleading. And I'm basically a pacifist - I'm not into shooting people.

Re: Melbourne Dominates Population Growth
Melbourne urban development is a nightmare. The philosophy is to take in as many people as possible and just dump them out in the paddocks like cattle with next to no infrastructure, destroying prime farming land and natural environment in the process.
Meanwhile, most of the small towns and some regional centres in Victoria are on the way out and dying a slow death. I don't really agree with Australia's obsession with urbanisation. People don't embrace the country enough.
