Loads...it's a much bigger city than Brisbane - next weekend will be the Labour Day weekend....... there is always lots going on in Melbourne, but more so PH weekends.
It is also the run up to the F1 Grand Prix.

Have a look at this...

Enjoy yourself...it's a great city

Melbourne Aquarium - we loved it!

If you are going to go there go to the tourist info centre (by flinders street train station) and get a voucher there for discounted entrance.

Hi Bill,

We had a few days in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago. St. Kilda is worth a visit on a nice day but don't bother with the Docklands area - it sounds nice (with cafes, boats etc) but is still very much in the construction stage!

A few years ago we did the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant (evening) and also visited the Old Gaol - both very much worth doing.

Enjoy your trip!

In no particular order...there is a heavy child friendly slant to these but all still fun even if you don't have wee ones to worry about...

Dandenong Ranges/Puffing Billy
Great Ocean Road
Zoo
Healesville Sanctuary
Yarra Valley - wine, food, etc
Acquarium
Mornington Peninsula
St Kilda
Albert Park
Circle Tram
Fed Square
Scienceworks Musuem
Royal Botanic Gardens
Walk along Southbank, along the Yarra and stop at the casino
Williamstown
Various shows and museums

If you fancy heading a couple of hours out of town then - Phillip Island or Wilsons Prom.

Check out some of the links above they'll give you more detail on these.

Have a great weekend.

And then on the next day God created the earth!

Nah, good selection but if someone is in Melbourne for a weekend there's only so much you can do and it depends where you stay. If you are going to be based near CBD or spend time in CBD there's lots to keep anyone occupied for many days.

Just around Southbank for example - Aquarium, Casino, Southgate, Yarra River walk to Royal Botanical Gardens/Melbourne Park/MCG.

City Circle tram, jump off at different places eg Queen Victoria Market I consider a must, Parliament House tour is great and the immediate area interesting.

Just a few ideas!

hubby went to the MCG in Jan and bought a train ticket which gave him vastly reduced entry to the MCG. Hmmm wish i could remember more about wot the deal was, maybe worth looking up online or perhaps someone here will know...

Us too. Also Rialto tower observation deck, Yarra cruise, AFL Hall of Fame.

Edit: Oh and don't forget to wave at yourself like a loon on the big screen at Fed Square
