I appreciate that you've not long arrived and it can be useful to catch up with others who've done the same thing. My advice however is to avoid doing so - you will in time come across plenty of Brits. If you avoid seeking them out you will have to integrate with all those around you - not just the Poms. If you start too early hanging around only Brits you will find it more difficult to make friends with Ozzies and others. I remember we were tearign our hair out feeling very alone with no friends for a long time. Now however we know a lot of Ozzies and some Poms and are well on the path of settling in with a broad cross section of friends and acquaintances. There are people here in Brisbane who I used to work with ten years ago, I made a point of not socialising with them to ensure we didn't get isolated as Brits abroad. Good luck and best wishes - I know what it is like.

No.. I don't think there are any. I know there is a big German club here if you are desperate, but I have never seen a Brit club. There's a Welsh club here, they meet up every now and again.. no premises .. I can't sing , so that's out for me .
Have to agree with the above. Clubs... don't do it!!! It's not so bad in Aus (Brisbane) with this type of thing, but when I was in Asia most expats belonged to clubs, Brit club, Aussie club (which was inside the Brit club). German club etc, etc .. very clubby. expats sticking together. In my opinion they were missing out on heaps by not mixing with the locals. Oh the snobbery, you wouldn't believe it.
Forget the expat clubs. try joining " special interest" clubs. "fishing" clubs, "conservation" clubs " motorsport" , "off road/4 wheel drive" clubs, etc, etc. -what ever you're interested in. That way you will mix with people from all walks of life. And if you missing "Brit conversations"... there's always this forum. "My gawd"... it could be considered to be a Brit club.... get me out of here now!
Cheers
P.s if you really do want a Brit club, you could always start up your own.
