Meeting Friends - Perth
Hi All
My husband and I arrived in Perth 5 months ago, living in Balcatta at the moment renting - hoping to buy soon NOR.
We have ozzie mates here who have introduced us to their mates but its not the same as having your own mates. However we know how lucky we are to have friends here as they have been such a great help to us.
However we want to get out and about and meet some new people - anyone in the same boat let us know, or anyone know of any meet ups?
2 Friendly Scots

Re: Meeting Friends - Perth
Hiya. We've just go the paperwork through re. moving over. We're Scottish and fed up of working long hours and the awful weather, so we're looking for a better quality of life for ourselves and the kids. One of my concerns is lack of family and friends. We have no family and only a couple of people we know, who aren't exactly friends over in Auz. I'm worried in case I get lonely! How awful that would be but exciting to move to a new place. My husband and I are 39 and my kids are 13 and 9 - both boys. People saying not to worry, if you've got kids it's easy to meet people etc., but my boys aren't babies anymore. Also, I like socialising on a more Scottish level i.e plenty of wine or a few vodka 'n coke (no Irn Bru in Auz I would imagine), funny stories, plenty of laughs and on occasion wear my knickers on my head when I've had a few........ not everybody's cup of tea. So are there Expats out there who are looking for friends who love a laugh, a good time and a right giggle? I've never fitted into the Mother 'n Toddler Mum's groups or the clicky mums groups at the schools. Maybe it's me, maybe I'm odd - but this is a concern for me and making friends isn't that easy, acquaintances are fine but real friends are hard to come by. In my experience and 39 years of it, I've got 2 real friends who I trust completely. Is it me? Haha (Think I need therapy!)
Any feeback would be great - just be gentle.
Oh my husband is a Diesel Mechanic and I'm a hairdresser/nail technician/waxer. I'm hoping work will be a walk in the park...... then again.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
